Pick up some Logitech Z560's and use your soundcard as the decoder...

          560's are only 4.1.
Look, I already have a sub and 5 satellites. I'd rather repair a $200 system, than buy a $300 replacement.

I assure you that the DTT2500 only had the DD decoder going for it in the first place...

Yeah, I already know that. The speakers were good enough for what I used them for, and don't need replacement. Music listening goes on in my living room, these are just for movies and games.

Just for a little closure: I threw in my Live! again, and booted up my old Win98 HD. The diagnostics failed. Sure looks like defective hardware. Almost certainly the decoder box, although I wish I had some other cables to try. They're pretty unique cables though.

Why not use a stereo minijack to stereo minijack cable???

Because the sound card has a minijack out, which goes to a Y-splitter, where one cable is RCA, but the other cable is some funky thing I don't recognize.

MK - Having no television is great. Once you stop watching it, when you look at it again you see that 90% of the shows are crap anyway. Also, I've become really intolerant of advertising - it's amazing how if you sit down in front of a TV for 30 minutes, 8 of them are filled with mental reprogramming. I do a lot other stuff with my time, like dancing, or reading.

Wombat - I second that. Therefore I do what I call "selective TV consumption". I focus mainly on the news (I really need that once a day) and good films, reports or cartoons. If there is nothing reasonable on air - I just turn it off.

An advantage I have here is a slighlty lower advertisment rate and a slightly better programm compared to yours, I suppose.

The only time I watch TV now is for the news and the odd nature program and football of course. Otherwise it stays turned off nothing worth watching.
I miss my old wintv card as used to load up all the football scores on teletext and get the updatesm as they happened. My usb one the teletext doesn't work properly and missexs most of the text off or forgets to update.
