I'm looking to cut a 10 gig chunk off the end of my 40 gig drive, and was wondering if there were any FREE utilities out there that could do it.

You didn't say what kind of file system you're running. If it's FAT, you have a lot more options, likeparted. It's a Linux-based tool, but you can download a floppy image. http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/
There's also Beeblebrox, but I've never used it. http://beeblebrox.sourceforge.net/Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Nah. If it's FAT32 you're in very good shape. It's a pretty easy file system. NTFS is deliberately designed to be difficult to interpret.Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw.
