Rugger has been helping (well, he has done all of the work) me to build a linux mail server. We are still at it, but I have noticed that the linux box wont respond to any pings. I have not got as far as to see if it will accept incoming connections.
The linux box can ping the LAN, router and WAN but not itself. I cant get any machine to actually see it. Full stealth i guess.
The problem/feature lies within the linux box itself. Port forwarding and the DMZ has been set up on the router, but i can reproduce the ping timeout if i bypass the router and just use the hub...
Any ideas??? I'm really new to all of this...

- [1]Is this a bad thing?
[2]Will this affect it as a mail server?
[3]Any ideas as to why this is happening?
