  • how do I turn search saver off in WindowsME ?

    Help !

My computer has had an attack of teenagers (male, IT literate), and now a whole load of "search words" (oh, go on, guess...) crop up in the lists of searches that have been made, whenever we use a search engine or type anything into anything with a box.
We've all (well mostly) been teenagers sometime, but I need to delete the searches or turn the facility off, as my children (aged under 11) also use the computer and can read the words and run the searches (not good...)

So, in Millenium Windows how do I either
    a) delete the list of searches that have been made, or reset it,
or b) turn the facility that brings up the word list when you type into a box, off ?

I can delete cookies, remove temp files, erase "web pages visited", etc, but not get rid of the word lists.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks

In Internet Explorer: TOOLS... INTERNET OPTIONS... CONTENT... AutoComplete... Clear Forms

You can also just use the cursor to select the entry you don't want in the drop down box and hit the delete key.

      Why didn't I try that ??? Aaaaaaaaargh !

Sometimes I just try and be to clever...

Will the changes stay in place, or will it default back to "on" when the computer is shut down incorrectly (a more or less daily occurance...)

      Seriously, my thanks.

      Thanks

Restart the computer properly once and it should stick just fine.
