  • The next BIG thing

I don't know how much this means to you, but this piece of news might be the next BIG thing in the technology / electronics world.

Panasonic (Matsushita Electric) and Sony have been rivals for a few decades, always developing counter technologies. They are also among the biggest electronics manufacturers in the world (Matsushita electric is the biggest in the world holding the names Panasonic, National and Technics). If IBM & Philips (who have already joined forces with Sony before, see S/PDIF - Sony/Philips Digital Interface and CD technology) join forces with this new alliance, Microsoft is going to find itself losing a HUGE market share in the next few years. This would probably also mean Java will win over C# and '.net'.

If unlike me, you play in the stock market, this could mean money.

    hehehehe...Linux powered reciever.

Of course, Sony already has a Linux dev team for the PlayStation 2. With the added, and even deeper, pockets of Matsushita (Panasonic) they can make some wonder Linux products. It will be interesting to see what they design.
