DirtFarmer,
I admit Panda comes VERY highly recommended by hackers and sysadmins alike, but do you care to comment on the fact that their installer is straight out of the Borland C++ kit from 1990?
K6-III,
Can you comment on the system speed after an AVG install, as compared to Norton or McAfee?

This is on a Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1.668GHz, 512mb DDR, Win2K.
It works fine on WinXP systems as well, but I can't comment on any performance degradation.

I'll echo what EA just said. On the K6-2 450, 256MB, Win2K system I have here at work I barely notice AVG running, even when it's scanning... this is while running Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and any number of other applications.Last edited by Jessterw; 7 January 2003, 12:40.“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

Hmm, time to install a virus checker?
Might give AVG a try, I thought it was a poor attempt at AV, I see a few recommendations here though. Off to download the free version (and see what the others offer ).Meet Jasmine.

Well I know mcafee can cause all sorts of problems one of the reasons why we're not renewing the license at work.
However the replacement sophos which scans quickly does seem to have one major flaw. In some cases it refuses to clean the file wanting you to delete it instead and restore from a backup. Now since most users don't have backups it's not an option you can take up. In those cases I install mcafee to clean the files which it normally does.
Norton 2003 I found a bit unreliable and needs earlier versons need removing to run properly. This may have been fixed with patches it also seems to run quicker after one set of updates.
