  • Anyone know any good system monitor software ?

I miss my Win98 System Monitor that was included in the windows installation *sniff*

    It could show stuff like
    - network, bytes sent/sec
    - network, bytes received/sec
    - filesystem, bytes written/sec
    - filesystem, bytes read/sec
    - dial-up, bytes transmitted/sec (I use RASPPPoE for my ADSL)
    - dial-up, bytes received/sec

    .. and tons more

It could show stats graphical.... charts or bars... and even numerical

It wasnt very pretty to look at, but it was extremely practical to monitor stuff happening on my system... and it's window could be made tiny (I -hate- system monitor programs with big windows filled wit useless open spaces or junk info or tons of buttons)

So, does anyone know of any great system monitor software for WinXP... ? Preferrably as good as the Win98 System Monitor

And PLEASE dont tell me to open the WinXP Task Manager, or to create a preformance monitor with the WinXP Management Console, coz both of them are pretty useless and arent very user friendly.

StatBar is a freeware system status bar which provides a handy, orderly overview of your system's condition. StatBar comes with 6 different color schemes and 19 information modules, allowing you to monitor and control various aspects of your system.

WinBar: a freeware system monitoring utility

      A bit more advanced:

Samurize is pretty cool, but a bit of a trouble to config and has some small bugs.

Personally I use coolmon as it is really easy and there are many addons available.

Other than the general stuff, I use it to show...
          - uptime
          - cpu, mobo, hdd temperature and fan speed (from MBM5)
          - hdd free space as bars
          - whats in cd-rw and dvd (vol label)
          - WEATHER!!! and forecast too
          - reminder for myself
          - winamp NowPlaying haha
          - unread mail counts on hotmail and pop3
          P4 Northwood 1.8GHz@2.7GHz 1.65V Albatron PX845PEV Pro
Running two Dell 2005FPW 20" Widescreen LCD
And of course, Matrox Parhelia | My Matrox histroy: Mill-I, Mill-II, Mystique, G400, Parhelia
