    Win2k for me.

Of my 6 LAN-mates, only one uses XP.

I'm currently using XP and all my hardware started dying ever since. I was using ME and beleive it or not but it ran GREAT! I loved it, thenI decided to install XP and it was good until the whole RAM episode, and now my sound card is pooched.

Win2k SP3 is the best for me. I'm just waiting for Gurm to come and tell me otherwise.

Win2k is not as good for games, ESPECIALLY older ones. I can run almost 100% of old DOS games in a virtual box under WinXP. Not so in Win2k.

Additionally, the multi-user logins for WinXP make it worth the extra bloat - all of which can easily be turned off.

W2k SP2 here.. on both machines. Oh, wait, Gurm said it was .00003 percent slower on Galaxian than XP. Better send another gajillion dollars to the world's richest corporation for another version of something I already have which will require me to buy two copies, one for each machine, and then lock up and phone home to report me as a thief if my psu goes out and I have to replace it. Yeah! Good deal! Let's all suck Bill Gates' anal opening in concert! One, Two, Ready, Suck!

I actualy have XP installed on my secondary HDD as dualboot (I play games on it and use it as an "super recoveryconsol" and general "test new software")
But as of now I can't see any reason to change my rock stable W2K sp3 to the sometimes not so rock stable xp sp1....

and I might mention that I have raid and the raid speed suck on xp

There's a lot of XP bload tho...and it's a pain to turn it all off.
What do you mean by "virtual box"? I don't find XP's DOS emulation any better than 2k's myself.

Anyway, I run 2k SP2 on "legobox", XP SP1 on my main and work boxes, and mandrake 9 on another box. I'm pretty happy with all of them.

Win98 mainly, XP SP1 on another partition for occasional use. Also Workbench 3.0.

It was reported that it was bad for some and no diff for others..

and it is much slower for me

Windows 2000 Service Pack 3. Because it's compatible and it... works.

Win2000 SP2 on my main machine and my game server. Both machines are stable, and don't give me any problems. Newer games run fine. I don't know about XP, but I agree Win2K is not so good for old Win95 and DOS games. I use an old P166 for those games.

I've replaced my original anti-KvH rant with a more peaceful alternative.

                                1. Learn to do math. If the person ALREADY HAS Windows XP, getting Win2k would cost him $300 that I'm sure he would rather not spend. So continued insistence that we use Win2k and thereby avoid giving big bad Bill more $$ ... is stupid.

                                2. WinXP is FASTER THAN WIN2K. Everybody says so, not just me. It's a LOT faster in modern games, and a LOT faster in really old games, and many games that just refuse to run under Win2k work fine in XP. So if games are AT ALL important to the user, XP is by far the superior choice, regardless of how "stable" Win2k is perceived to be.
