Well I can't download the ide drivers fubars over the registration for some unknown reason.
Doubt if I'd notice any diff with the agp drivers anyway.
I could always say i gianed an extra 100 3d marks as most people say.

          WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

          Driver went from
W2k sp3 original AGP driver -> SIS 114 AGP driver

          3DMark2001SE score wen from
          5500 -> 7800

          WHOOOA!
Didn't know original W2k driver is so bad!

7833 is not bad for my setup I guess.
(The 309MHz memory freq and 256k cache is the main bottleneck.)

ThePIT: download from TW or US site instead of UK site. UK site is not updated yet.

(Please don't make fun of me saying you ATI users' 9700 got 17000 marks, thanks.)

Tried em all but it insisted I was already registered and wouldn't let me download them.

Hey, now you Win2k people can catch up with the default graphics performance of WinXP.

Seriously though, these latest drivers fix YET MORE compatibility issues with certain video chipsets (112 and 113 were targeted mostly at ATI).

The IDE drivers give a nice little bump to disk access speeds as well.

Is anyone here actually using the IDE drivers besides you Gurm? I'm a bit afraid to install them after i heard horrible stories on equally horrible performance drops. I guess they don't come with a clean uninstall?

                    Me.
                    But no difference at all.
I really don't see the point of installing them other than for the sake of installation.

Oh by the way, my XP is 400 point behind my 2K. That could be related to XP=dualhead, 2K=stretched.

The IDE drivers are safe, and you may or may not actually see a performance improvement with them. Some do, some don't. I don't know that I do - but I feel better having them in.
