They use the ragetheater chips for the AIW line, and I think the 9700AIW uses the new Theater200 chip.

Just to add about the 9700 buying time: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=8062

Take it with the usual Inquirer grain of salt, but it shouldn´t be very far from reality. A R350 high-end part and a RV350 .13u with GF4 level performance.

So those buying a 9700 pro migh as well wait a couple of months as the R350 should replace it within the same price range. If you can get a vanilla 9700 (I missed that word - vanilla ) at a budget price, go for it as they´ll probably fade away with the R*350 introduction, as it happened with the R8500.

2d quality was a surprise, definitly much sharper than the Ti4400... Again, I was surprised, specially because Powercolor isn´t a premium brand.
2D quality is the same on ALL R300 boards since the pic filters are on R300 CORE.. ATI didnt want to let OEM's ruining their pretty good 2D-IQ reputation so they made sure that 2D-pic is GOOD on every single R300 based card. Something that NVidia should have done years ago.

I thought the ramdacs were inbuilt and the filters still outside the chip. Never mind, could be wrong. The 9700 pro I've got still isn't as good at 2d as my G400 or G550.

Why buy an AIW? Add this http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=TV+LEA DTEK+WINFAST+%22

I added this to a 9700pro and it is much better than the AIW.

Also check this page, they released new XP drivers in the last few weeks.

I have one of those...it's great except for the fact that when capturing video, the audio tends to go out of synch. Maybe these new drivers will help?
