  • AGP aperture size for Radeon

I have heard a lot of ppl say that 64mb is what ATI recommends, and some ppl say that you should set it to the same as the card, so in my case 128. Though I have found this not to be the case as with my n-force board the higher I set it the better performance I get. I'm not sure if this is connected to the Smart-gart tool but my 3dmark 2003 performance really increases by increasing the aperture size. Sometimes by as much as 50% this also goes for games like ut 2003

    What do you think ?

The truth is that the AGP aperture doesn't matter so much any more. Most programs try to figure out how much memory your card has and never go over that.

The TRUTH is that your system chipset is what cares about the AGP aperture... how buggy it is determines how much the aperture size matters. You have an nforce chipset, which is about as buggy as they come, bar VIA's KT133.

For some reason my 9700 pro likes 64mb. Anything above that problems start. Now whether it's motherboard problem or not I dunno.

I know if I set it lower than 64, I begin to see slow downs in games. I have mine at 128 with no probs that I can see.
