I had that same issue with my original Microsoft Intellimouse Optical. That mouse is no longer with me. It's kind of common in Optical mice from what I see.

az: My logitech mouse ALWAYS moves two pixels the first time it is moved, and then it is OK. It is almost as if the sensor needs to wake up....The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

I uninstalled MouseWare, and I thought that my problem was gone... But then I realized that windows had automatically activated mouse acceleration, which I find REALLY annoying. So I turned it off. Mouse only moved one pixel at a time but was too slow. Moved up mouse speed one notch, mouse started to move two pixels at once. So I tried reducing mouse speed and turning on acceleration, which had the effect that the mouse was way too slow for short distances, when I moved it slowly, and way too fast for long distances. I never instinctively knew where the mouse was anymore (But it moved in one-pixel-steps)
ARGH!
Any help? I'm really lost
Should I try installing IntelliPoint?
This is with WinXP (no SP), and a logitech cordless wheel mouse (symmetrical), connected to the ps/2 port.
Changing the mouse is not an option.

you have to chose an ms mouse that has buttond in about the same way...
keystroke assignements is in the controllpanel applet that is also installed with intellipointIf there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Sounds like the mouse is still using the logitech driver, even though mouseware is gone. I would try installing intellipoint, and see if that replaces the driver.Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox
