    Is the TV-out quality good ?
    Also about the tv-out: does it require the first monitor to also revert back to 50 Hz (pal) or 60 Hz (ntsc), ...) ? I read something along those lines in the 9700 manual...

    Don't use the TV out as I haven't a TV. No room too put one.

      Ok thanks...

      Otherwise pleased with the card ? (2D quality, drivers, and yes: gaming, ...)

        Lot better than my Gigabyte Maya 9700 Pro. The display is clearer as well overall.

            2D not as good as Matrox but closer. 3D wipes the floor with earlier Matrox cards. Can't comment about the P as I haven't got one. Best card I bought since the G400.

            So far best displays on my rig go

            G550 >> In 2nd PC
            G400 >> In work machine.
            Sapphire 9800 Pro >> Doing the Biz
            Gigabyte 9700 Pro >> Sitting around will I sell. Doesn't like AGP x8 boards so selling maybe a prob.
            Radeon 8500 >> Spare card works in all boards so far.

              Great, thanks for the info!
              (I'm looking to replace a G450 I bought for temporary use; it will replace a G200 in my secondary system once I upgrade)

                Pit - is there a known issue with the gigabyte 9700 pro? My budget is tight and i was debating this card. Its £204 on dabs at the mo - i cant afford a 9800 and didnt see areal difference with the others (other than price that is)

                I would stick with my G400max but I have fat chance of playing doom 3

                  If it's only Doom 3 you want, why not wait until it's out? Then there'll be a RadishForce 100000000 for 50 quid

                    Not really although the IQ wasn't as good as my Sapphire 9800 Pro. Performance wise there a noteable idfferance between the two. Well I noticed it anyway.
                    As Gnep says wait for Doom3. Save your pennies as the prices of the cards will drop anyway during this period.

                      when you say the IQ was not good what sort of thing do you mean?

                      also the hydravision - in what way does it differ to the matrox version? better worse etc. My other option is some nvidia one but not sure about anything there.

                        Matrox posted the relative performances of their cards at the bottom of this chart;

                        Basically both Parhelia and the P-750 wipe the floor with the G cards, plus they have both dual and triple display capabilies and lots of options as to how you allocate those resources.

                        IMO for workstations, especially those for video, the P-750 is a great choice at $235 USD. Here's the new DMN article on it;

                          IQ = Image Quality.

                          I don't use hydravision by the way.

                          Matrox dual head from what I've seen is way better than ATI's
