    Maybe something is wacked with that HD?
    Oh, doesn't the power adapter for the vid card use 5v and not 12v?

      It ain't the hard drive as I've borrowed one from work and plugged that in instead and the same thing happens. I don't know which power line the Pro uses.
      I would presume that it's the 12v line thats dropping and I thought this was the one that provided the juice for the hard drives.
      Anyway the new supply is on the way so lets see what happens after that.

        Got the new power supply took out the enermax and its a 431 watt model. Interestingly it seems to say on the label total power for the 3.3 and 5 volt line 220 Watt.
        Anyway swapped the supply over and ran 3dmark several times and no more clicking so it looks like the problem is solved.
        Now to change the Motherboard.

          Wierd.. oh well glad it works

          I think those vid cards use the +5v rail. Would be kinda silly to regulate 12v down to 1.5 and 2.5
