Before installing this update

Be sure that you have:



Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000 or Windows XP installed
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 Platinum eX audio card installed
Note:

This update contains only the WDM drivers. There will not be future updates to the VXD drivers, which are no longer supported by many third-party applications. For the best user experience on the Audigy 2 series, please use the WDM drivers.

No problems so far but there friken media source software takes forever to start up! This software still needs further optmizations. I mean I am running a 3GHz P4 chip. The program should open instantaneously. Keep tweaking Creative! And make it snappy!

That's why I like my MAudio Revo. Nice, small and near-perfect control panel.

Still needs a bit of work with the drivers, but near perfect for my uses.

K6-III, on Aureal Vortex sq2500 I've also has this kind of minimalistic con...ehmmm...otoh, what control panel?

but seriously, if someone's interested, on quantex zone there is now patch for original aureal control panel (so it works on xp) insted of the "control panel xp".

You NEED to get rid of the last set of drivers BEFORE installing these ones. Pain in the butt. The automated installer doesn't cut it this time around, for whatever reason.

How's that card working out for you? You run linux don't you? I was wondering how well the soundcard works in linux. Since I was thinking of picking up one of those.

Though I do have one problem with going with a non-creative card. I don't think anyone else supports EAX Advanced HD, am I right in this?

(To clarify, that's the MAudio Revolution 7.1, right?)

Not the best gaming card, but I hardly game anymore anyway...

Better for music/dvd's than Audigy2.
Lower memory usage for control panel for Revo.

Does everything I want it to at the right price. Was a no-brainer. Finally works with no sound delay on tv tuner cards with the latest driver.

Best bass management bar none.

As for Linux, I did try it out under RedHat 9.0 and it worked fine for basic functionality.

Yeah, now that these are out, is it still recommended to hack them for use with the Audigy? My friend recently did a reinstall of his system (he has an Audigy) but had no idea which drivers to try. I think he ended up using the beta drivers posted on the Creative page for the Audigy.

Sorted. Thanx Gurm. Still not sure I quite like them though, no improvement noted yet, but I'll fire up Fifa2003, NFSHS II and UT2K3 later to hear whether there are any noticeable improvements. Back to work now.
