Price manipulation by manufacturers of PC memory components such as double data rate (DDR) DRAM is deliberate, periodic, predictable, and has been happening for decades. Conveniently, DRAM price increases tend to be observed during critical periods, such as just before earnings reports or after periods of substantially subdued demand. It has also been suggested that some memory suppliers periodically withhold supply of DRAM and other memory components. This creates an artificial supply shortage, which in turn generates a level of artificial demand that drives up prices.

Umm... duh?
It's like oil.
It's been happening for MORE than 10 years... ever since people started ordering SIPP's for their 286's.

Welcome to the real world of business, boys . Except oil crosses the boundries into governemt territory (although I wouldn't be too surprised about DRAM either).

With Hynix at least, DRAM and the Korean government are very linked. (Hynix got huge credits from banks that are tied to the state - but this is business as usual in Korea, at least for the big fish (Hynix, Deawoo, Hyundai, LG...)

hehe, remember the taiwan eartquake?
when the dram prices went up with 400%.
One dram factory in taiwan had an hour of stop, but every dram manufactor raised prices
That earthquake was a damnd good one becuse it managed to pinpoint buildings in several countries across the globe :PIf there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.
