      Looks better than Doom3. I can't wait!

AFAIK both the FX and the Radeons support DM. Actually, I am positive of it. I have run DM demos on my Radeon 9700 before.

but on those cards its some kind of emulated DM, not real hardware DM like parhelia, not sure myself though

btw i thought NV3x doesn't fully support true DM, but only Vertex DM or something like that...

edit: for a budget limited guy like me, does any body think R8500 will cut the meat? (1024x768)

            If not, what about R9500?

when you say it "looks" better than doom3, do you mean 'as a game it seems like it will be better', or do you mean visually better? cuz if you mean visually, maybe you should look at some doom3 screenshots or something....

I think the problem with Doom 3 is the setting... it may be using all kinds of shaders, crazy amount of triagles and stuff... but it doesn't cut the meat because generally speaking the lighting is very dark... so the setting is holding it back a little. (Judging from the Alpha Doom 3 leak)

                BTW http://www.nvidia.com/nzone/

nVIDIA just set up this. It's a pretty awesome demo, one of the best I have ever seen...

edit: of course, if you look at the texture and stuff... Doom 3 cannot be beaten!

the half life dudes have done a lot of research(every time you install HL it does a survey), the found the average system people use is a p3 800 or soi a nd a tnt 2, so they have kept the max specs down.

So HL2 should run well on average hardware.....but I guess we'll all want uber hardware to get ALL the eye candy

I think it it looks better visually and playability including AI, features, and just about evertyhing else. Although the latest Doom3 video from E3 was pretty damn impressive when then monster rips the steal door off the frame and it twists.

That looks awesome! Still looking forward to Doom3 though. I enjoyed the original Doom games just as much as I enjoyed Half-Life.

I agree though, TF2 should be awsesome!

500 meg higher quality version found linked in this thread here. You'll need BitTorrent, I recommend getting this version that has upload limiting if your DSL or cable connection is capped, like mine.

It looks like everybody's using it to leech. I'm getting 1kB down, and 3-4kB up, even though I just started, and shouldn't have much of the file yet.

Oh, make that 0kB down. Grrr
