        Now that I've downloaded the Firebird release, this seems to me much less stable than the previous nightly I had installed. Crashed twice on one day without apparent reason, the nightly from a few days before never did crash.

          I had the same thoughts for Phoenix 0.5, but once I found the extensions, I'm all addicted to mouse gestures and I cannot live without tab-browsing anymore.

          Also, I find this browser pretty slick and slim, compared to other versions.

              4 Seconds to start mozilla? I only wish that it would start that fast on my system (with or without quickstart). It takes about 7-10 seconds to start with quickstart and not much longer without. Phoenix meanwhile takes about 3-4 seconds to start. So, for those of us without such god-like systems Phoenix is definately a great choice.

                The latest version (0.8) is out. Another name change though, it's called FireFox now. They registered the TM on that, so they shouldn't have to change the stupid name again.

                I'm running it now. The new download manager is nice. Fixing that wma display bug is nice too.

                Mozilla’s family of products are all designed to keep you safer and smarter online

                * Windows Installer

                Firefox now comes with an installer for Windows. Aside from making the installation process smoother, the installer also solves some common plug-in problems.
                * Download Manager

                The new streamlined download manager keeps your downloads organized without getting in your way. Select Tools > Downloads or press Ctrl+E to see it or change its behavior.
                * New Add Bookmark Dialog

                The Add Bookmark dialog has been enhanced and now allows the creation of new bookmark folders.
                * Work Offline

                It's now possible to view Web pages you've previously visited without being connected to the Internet.
                * Better Handling of File Types

                Binary files (e.g. .wma and .rar files) served by servers incorrectly sending text/plain should no longer be displayed as garbage in the browser, rather they should be appropriately handled.
                * New XPInstall Frontend

                The dialog that appears when installing themes and extensions has been redesigned and is easier to use.
                * New default theme for MacOS X

                The Pinstripe theme integrates better on MacOS X than the Qute theme, used on Windows and Linux.
                * Lots of bug fixes and improvements

                Disabling of form auto-completion is now working, the address bar now remembers the edited text across tab switching, among many other bug fixes.
                Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

                    Mmm, it does seem faster loading and browsing than Firebird, we'll just have to see about stability

                      firefox takes 2.5 seconds to start on my machine

                      mozilla takes 5 seconds to start on the same machine

                      I have been using firefox/firebird/whatever u name it for a very long time, simply because it loads a lot faster than mozilla on my machine (and i have M1.6 installed)

                      and yes, IMO mozilla is the best browser around, even better than Opera IMO. (Sorry AZ )

                        If Mozilla is only a fraction slower than Firebird, something's fishy.
                        So that's what that funk is... better douche it quick Mathias!

                          LOL, you guys should use an old Cyrix PR166 and then complain about load speeds

                          I never shut Moz down so there is no complaint about loading speeds.

                            Ha! I still have my 160MHz 486 on my desk! (Haven't switched it on for a while though.) Even Phoenix took a while to load on that machine.
                            Blah blah blah nick blah blah confusion, blah blah blah blah frog.

                                Definitely competitive with Opera!

                                I still miss a few things from Opera, but it may very well win me over in the long run if the Opera team doesn't fix Opera 7.5 as they should...
