  • how to grab a RA stream?

Its for a good cause - a mate was on the radio and wants his mum to hear it

It's a realaudio stream of a radio prog - how can I capture it, short of recording from the speaker outputs?

    Thanks

    Tony.

I REALLY think that setting the recording source as "wave" (or whatever your soundcard calls it) and then using a normal sound recorder app would be the best (not to mention easiest) option... Since the quality of RealAudio probably isn't very high, you can set the recording app to record mono sound at 22050 Hz or whatever (unless they're performing music, in which case you should go higher). This should be a piece of cake for a modern system, even if the broadcast is hours long. Later, you can crop the sound file as needed and convert it into MP3 with your favorite app (I use CDex).

There are stream recorders available for RealMedia, but I don't know of any free ones. And even if I knew, I wouldn't use them if you ended up with a clip in that fabulous, un-editable RealMedia format.
