Panaflo H1A would work great with a 900U. Maybe even a 92mm L1A would work too.

My CPU right now, with just running desktop things, is at 55C. I have a Pentium4 3.06ghz though. I'm looking now at getting this fan.

Don't get the 92mm Zalman. I've got one right here, and It's very noisy. The 80mm Zalman is much quieter at the same voltage as the 92mm one, and probably will cool sufficiently as well.

And as BSDGeek and me said, Panaflo also is very good.

and make sure to check www.silentpcreview.com for quiet fans!

I have a 92mm Zalman in my machine at the moment - it's running at full voltage and is very quiet - maybe the bearings are going in yours dZeus?

no, it's a matter of how quiet the rest of your system is.

imho, the 92mm fan is VERY noisy at full voltage, as _every_ other fan I've heard. With the zalman fanmate at lowest speed, I can hear the 92mm Zalman fan clearly, while the 80mm Zalman is inaudible.

Another quick question, with the Thermalright SLK-900U heatsink, will I have to take it out everytime that I move my computer for a lan party? Since Scumhawk keeps saying that he read somewhere on the net that it'll potentially damage your motherboard if you move your computer with that heavy chunk of copper in there.

Compared with everything else in my case, it'd probably be pretty quiet I think I need to replace the PSU fans as well, Just a guess, but I'm thinking that's where a lot of the noise is coming from.

I'd say if you carry it horizontally, heatsink up, you should be ok.

That's what I figured. Since for it to actually fall off anyhow, it'd have to rip my motherboard apart. I'll just have to make sure that I have everything secured in there nicely

What in the hell..... So out of boredom I decide to install Asus Probe.... it shows my CPU running at 64 C, while at the EXACT same time, MBM 5.3.20 shows it at 57C What is up with that? which one is right?

                          Hi Leech,

The Zalman CNPS7000-cu is the heavy dude, 773 g. The Zalman is quiet, but doesn't cool nearly as well as the Thermalright SLK-900-U. The SLK-900-U weighs 587 g plus fan. It comes with two choices for mounting, one for lan party goers through the board after removing the Intel rig, or an easy one using the Intel frame for stay-at-homers.

                          Check it out.

I just put in a SLK-900-U with a 92 mm Enermax UC-9FAB-B adjustable speed fan on it, 1200-2500 rpm. My p4 3.06 G is running 29C at idle and 37C with blips to 40C at full load.

In any case, it doesn't make much difference what you clap on your CPU if you don't have a healthy through the case airflow.
How can you possibly take anything seriously?
                          Who cares?

Nice! That's what I'm looking for, some real numbers on the Temps for what I have.

Right now I have my Air conditioning full blast and my case is almost freezing to the touch (Hell my fingers are starting to feel a little numb ) And yet my CPU is running at 51 C (according to MBM5).

As far as airflow goes, I have a 120mm Evercool fan (not sure on the exact model right now...) blowing across my Ultra160 Atlas II 10krpm Drive (which also has a Harddrive cooler with two fans attached to the bottom, the harddrive is running at 27 C, which is the coldest I've had it running to date (probably due to me turnning up the A/C) Then I have two Antec Smartfan's on the back for the exhaust. So I should have plenty of airflow going through my case.

Also soon I should have the rounded cables so that'll help out with some of the airflow, over that huge 50 pin SCSI ribbon cable I have in there now. Also I could probably move some of the molex/psu cables around to help out. Wish me luck...

Make sure all the hot air being expelled from the heatsink isnt being re-routed back into the fan, i had that and the temps are way bigger than they should be.
I have dual 80mm on front panel;, and a single 80mm at the rear, with an enermax dual fan psu, at full belt.
I still get 5C difference with case open and closed...

edit: Lian-Li case Aluminium, and loads of space. Ribbons are a pain tho.

Evil is right. When you close the box, all the aerodynamics change in there.

I take MBM5 with blocks of salt. I have 4 Lian Li temp probe sensors in the box, CPU, NB, GPU and one to measure the air temp in the box, which I can move around to different nooks and crannies to see what's going on. These sensors and LCD panels are lightning fast and help me see how the different components react to load, airflow and how they affect each other.

As for temp software, I feel more comfortable with Aida and SiS Sandra. You can get Aida 32 here.
