Yeah, I've been reading about it over at Beyond3d and Rage3d all morning. All I can say is...BWAHAHAHAHA! I hope they burn in hell!
Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.

just a question to you guys:

do you look at benchmarks in reviews differently now?

or what about nvidia´s claims about "30% performance boost in new drivers"?

how long do you think they have been cheating?

renember when geforce3 came out, and it was slower than their previous high-end card. most people believe that they eventually optimized the drivers and improved performance on the geforce3 alot. Has ANYONE bothered to compare these cards in non-popular games...

was the geforce256 really THAT much faster than everything else...

Im beginning to wonder if my impression of nvidia has been wrong in all those years...

I mean, I have heard rumors about nvidia "skipping frames", the last couple of years.

I have never owned an nvidia card, so this is an honest question, to people who has used/is still using an nvidia card: were their previous cards really as fast as the reviews said they were? did they "feel" fast in non-popular games/games without benchmarking capabilities?

              They _did_.

              Well, the GF2 did.

I can't speak for the GeForce.

But I didn't feel that the GF3 was as much faster as everyone claimed...

And the GF4... was tepid. No faster than the GF3, at least it didn't FEEL any faster... except in, now that you mention it, the really popular games.

But what do you EXPECT from nVidia?

GF2 was phenomal in speed, much like the Voodoo2 was in it's days (especially in SLI operation). This, and nVidia has very good OpenGL drivers, as opposed to some other graphic vendors

Well it looks like reviewers are going to have to rename there benchmark programmes everytime there's a new card/ driver.

It would help if reviewers looked at quality rather than just fps all the time.

Well the problem is, at least in this case, that the quality difference was almost imperceptible.

To be honest without seeing it first hand I couldn't really comment on how different it is. Even then my eyes aren't the best so it's doubtful even then.

I remember a test I did a work with images from the web and getting people too say which card was a matrox and which was the nvidea. Only the youngsters could tell and get it right each time.

What I find peculiarly funny about this is that this was "a hint from ATI".

Yes, nVidia had and imo still has the best OGL drivers and the best Linux drivers out there. But the hardware while at top notch for a decade (in "PC time") are inferior to the competition since over 3/4 year now.

Hmm.. I am working in a LAN Gaming Centre.. I can honestly say that in a lot of games a gf2mx400 64mb runs smoother and a tad faster than gf4mx440 64mb. However, after a few driver updates the gf2 seems to have slowed down a bit.. however at the same time newer games play better on the gf4. So i leave you to your conclusions

Check the boards. Some of the GF4mx's have everything from SDR to narrow memory busses. The model numbers mean almost nothing.
