G5 Power Mac Specs "leaked"

Wow, it's got some nice features...

64 Bit CPU (64 bit OS "Panther" is coming, Safari 1.0 just finished), PCI-X, USB2, FireWire 800, Gigabit Ethernet, DVD/CD burner...

PCI-X is nice, except that Apple is notorious for making all its expansions external. Oops.

USB2? Got it.

Firewire 800? Not necessary yet, and when it is, I'll upgrade to it cheap.

Gigabit Ethernet? Again, not necessary, but I could have it for cheap.

DVD/CD burner? Yeah, got that too.

Well, it's more about the software than the hardware anyway. Still you have to admit apple do innovate in hardware, too, sometimes (FW, Gigabit Ethernet, no floppy, wether that's good or bad, FW800, "super drives", PCI-X).

But good hardware is useless without good software, and vice versa. And I'd wager that the G5 is good enough hardware.

apple lies all the time, its not the fastest nor the first, the opteron has a higher spec2000 performance and is alot faster, it also is 64bit and came out before the G5

OR nobody will ever make any add-o cards for the nextgen Apple-devised expansion-port/bus/thingy. Or Apple will drop support for it in two months when they release the next series of Macs, or it will be really really nice but cost 10 times what the next competitor costs...and then they'll drop the price of the Mac you just bought at Christmas by 30% on January 15....
