It might've thought it was broken and needed fixing.
I mean, who would not like their OS to randomly clog their internet connection with the latest patches at the most unsuitable times?

I always leave the service on and just get the OS to tell me where there is an update.

So far never had a problem with it and I quite like the feature.

I've never bothered with it even with my home machine. It is just simpler to go and update the machine to make sure it works before installing it on every machine in the company or my house.

It has built-in USB 2.0 support. It took care of a detection problem on one of our machines. Woohoo!

Seems to have made my other home machine more unstable.

Perhaps it's time for an upgrade.
