  • P4PE and 800MHZ FSB CPU....

Ok, with a Bios update the P4PE supports the P4's with 800mhz FSB..... but my question is, if you buy one and only have a 800mhz fsb processor, are you basically screwed, or would the processor just run at 533mhz FSB until you updated the bios?

It'd just be underclocking the cpu until you got the bios update, no big deal.

Ok, that's what I wanted to make sure of. I wasn't 100% sure, but I figured it would. The reason I ask is because this guy at work is building a system and I suggested to get the P4PE since that's the board I have and it's been a great board, and I knew the BIOS update would support the 800MHZ FSB. He's building his own because I keep telling him to and because he ordered a P650 and it wouldn't fit in his stupid Dell Desktop PC (the thing had a half-heigh AGP TNT2 in it) And since he doesn't play games and he only uses his computer to get email and to play around with Photoshop Elements, I figured the P650 would be perfect for him.
