They take them back to their lair, copy them in quadruplicate and sell them to your competitors, then destroy the original, sending the shards faithfully back to your managers.

The best technical advice I saw in there was the NSA standards.. use fine sandpaper and sand the thing down into 1 micron particles.. but do you trust the NSA?

I like the heat idea.. dropping them into a vat of molten steel should work pretty well.. also works for dead bodies.

Something no one mentioned was acid.. a nice bath in a bowl of sulfuric acid should pretty much render the thing into gelatinous nothingness.. and it's a bit easier to procure than a vat of molten steel..

Hmm one could coat them with lard and feed them to their school of pet piranhas..

Cut them into three shards and sink them in the deepest trenches of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans..

Sneak them into Grandpa's casket just before he goes to the crematorium..

Cut them into tiny pieces and put those pieces on a railroad track..

Nail them to a wall and riddle them with bullets..

        Flamethrower!.. bwahahahaha!!

Let's see.. 12cm is the bore of the M1A1 tank's main cannon.. one could slide that CD into the breech right behind the shell and fire away..

Drop them into a volcano.. worked for Frodo!

..but the acetelyne torch is probably the most practical absolute method (unrecoverable by even the highest tech spooks).

That's not exactly what happens in the book anyway, so unless the movie really deviates from the original story don't worry about it. And besides, how many movies would end with the bad guy winning (Sauron getting the ring in this case) anyway?

Terribly sorry old chap.. actually thought the ending was common knowledge by now, and his mission is well known to anyone who read the first book or saw the first movie, and as Jon said, we all know this is a positive, uplifting story, so ultimately, quite obviously, good will triumph in the end. That being said, the ending is not that simple at all, and there is a big twist which probably surprise you, so be assured I haven't really told you much of anything about it.

An animated version is in the works (though my hdd crash messed my timeframe up a little...). Expect it in two weeks or so.

BTW, Kurt: "For the birds" was het voorfilmpje in de cinema voor "Monsters Inc". Algemene hilariteit in de zaal (kan me niet herinneren dat er nog zo hard gelachen werd in een cinemazaal).

                                Back already.

Do the microwave! It's a wickedly cool light show. Tho you might want to put it on top of a plate you can make a mess of (paper/foam not reccommended) as it will make the label burn in less than 5 seconds in my machine
