How do you go about removing MSN Messenger from Windows 2000? I know they have an option in XP to disable it but I haven't seen it in 2000.

Yep. Upgrade to the latest version, then disable it from within itself.

Well you should still disable it, since it's the biggest new spam medium since hotmail.

Yeah but that's no solution. If you really want to remove it, it can be done, just not easily. Well, it WAS easy, until the later service packs reinstalled it and made it nigh-invulnerable (spoon!).

msconfig, find it in the programs started at boot? That's what I do on XP.Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Install it like suggested above but instead of disabling it, uninstall it. The string is somewhere in
HKEY_LocalMachine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Uninstall
Paste the string into a command prompt.
You may even be able to find it before updating. I have not had to take it off a machine in a while.
