  • so I got a new motherboard and would liek to tweak it....

Some of you may remember my saga with the mystery router problem where my PC would not let the router do its job; well it looks like it was the motherboard afterall - so now I got a new MB

Can someone guide me thru some basics on tweaking the bios?

I have a A7N8X-X m/b and an AMD xp1800 and using kingston ddrpc3200 400hz (256mb ram)...what do i adjust in the bios setting to get maximum performance?

    current settings are:

    CPU speed "MANUAL"
    CPU freq Multipl - 11.5x
    CPU Ext Freq - 133/33
    Mem Freq - 333
CPU V Core setting - AUTO
    CPU V Core - 1.500V

    SDRAM
    cas 2.5
    Ras to CA 3
    " " 3
    " " 7

I do not understand what i need to adjust to take advantage of 200fsb? i'm not even sure what 200fsb is and where do i adjust it...but a friend told me i needed to adjust something in my bios to get the most out of my setup....is there a switch to setup the m/b for running at 200fsb...is it recommended for my setup?

    please help

    thanks

No, if the Bios is reporting the XP1800+ Correctly, you are good to go. Tweaking the bios is something we did back in the good old days, or when you want to Over Clock you proc. The Bios will autodetect your timing on your memory, and the 200mhz FSB is set correctly at 133 for your CPU Ext Freq.

Before tweaking get everything working properly first and make it's stable.
After that you can think about tweaking.
