I've always thought "Jap" was just an old insult/slang for Japanese too, never heard of it being used in any other way.

same here. i always thought "jap" is a word used to insult the japanese b/c of WWII. I found this term kinda disturbing... or racist. Never heard of the other meanings tho... weird. :|
