Got sent the virus by people I've never heard of. Got removed by NAV first though. Was never infected. All systems patched to latest patch updates.

Technically I did...but only because my hdd (on which os was clean) died one week ago, I've borrowed one, installed XP, immadietely connected to WU to download all the patches...and that was enough
Though startup -a proved to be usefull...
As for mail virus...I don't bother to configure OE, but when checking via www there was only MURC Forums Mailer spam in there

Yeh the speed of infection is impressive. Got to admit on a couple of clean unpatched machines I deliberatly raced the infection. It infected each time before I managed to patch.

Not necesserily someone used it, M|x

If machine is unpatched, as PIT pointed, infection speed is impressive...

NAV is set up properly along with some email filters and the Linksys NAT/ZAP firewall kept this place virus and annoyance free from the get-go.

I've only had a few of the messages get through the email filter and their payload had already been nailed by NAV.

I didnt get anything though I was getting werid emails at my att.net address I work at saying emails were bouncing back due to a virus...but I never emailed these people. I guess someone was spoofing my email address when they sent them. I did a virus scan and even sent emails to my personal accounts without anything werid being attached to them, but I'm also accessing all my email via a web base product due to my main PC being shut down while I move.

                        ehh... what are the symtoms?

I haven't bothered to install an anti-virus program, but i did patch all my PCs.

So far no slow down / ramdon freeze / random restart

I'm patched, have a very decent router and a firewall installed, doubt I'll see the likes of either one. (plus I was not connected to the net when that whole baster virus spread)

Oh, but I do get the rare random lock-up, but that's cause I have a VIA chipset.

For MSBlast, I was patched 3 weeks before the virus hit and for SoBiG.F I updated the virus scanners that day plus all email clients were patched against automatic execution of attachemnts months in advance. 'Twas mean but I was laughing at the people having trouble because of their own laziness with the exception of the people that did not have control over their circumstances.

No MSBlast 'cause of Win98, and even if I had gotten a SoBiG.F email I'd still be ok because of NAV, and even if it wern't for NAV it's not like I open random attachments anyway.
