@Helevitia: I was thinking of getting a PIX 501 or 506 or maybe a Firebox. Any bad things (that you're aware of) I should know about the PIX?

To be honest, I don't work with the PIX firewalls. I used to support them 5 years ago but since moved on to working with the catalyst 6K and related switches.
5 years ago, the PIX had 36 commands, everything ran off of an Intel Pentium 100 mobo and chip with 10/100 intel nics Also, it was all static routing, no routing protocols were supported. Now it is much more complicated.

Bottom line though, usually when you buy something from Cisco it comes with some kind of service contract. That is the best part about Cisco. I think we have the best support in the industry(actually, of any industry). What we tell our customers is to read the release notes for the product and find out what the known caveats are. If there is an issue that may prevent you from using the product, then find o9ut when it will get fixed. This way there are no suprises later on.

Thx. And yes, firewalls are making progress

BTW, is anyone at Cisco working on a manual on how to buy the right HW/SW/maintenance stuff?

I like the bundle idea. Cisco is just options, options, options...

            That's good too mind you
