I can't help being reminded of Londo Mollari from Babylon 5 when hearing the name of these cards/chips...

Let's hope they haven't made arrangements with the Shadows to get better performance

Yeah, as were the uber-performing, soon-to-be-available (tm) Xabre, the uber-performing, soon-to-be-available (tm) Xabre2, the uber-performing, soon-to-be-available (tm) Trident XP4 - and of course all of Bitboys chips...

No, I will believe this only when some site that's kept at least some respect (mostly Beyond3D, 3DCenter) has a real card in their hands, and it both performs good and doesn't have image quality like this...

Too much crap has been coming from the companies involved in this the last few years...

Yes, you are right of course.

I'm not planning on upgrading anytime soon, so it's not like I'm holding my breath though.

          (click pic to enlarge)

Lots of crowded caps there and taking juice from two separate connectors
That's supposed to be the Duo V8 and aparently Power Color and Gigabyte will jump in the wagon and make the cards starting November.
          More details here (French site)

Scoring 5618 in 3dmark03, which puts it in 9800Pro/5900Ultra w/ cheatpack territory.

Following a link to Tweak Town in there, they scored 5370 in 3DMark 2003.

edit: 499$ for it isn't quite a good price, a 9700/9700 Pro or 9800 can do what the duo V8 does for under 400$

yeah, but these drivers are probably no where near mature... i doubt there's much more to be taken out of the 9700 pro with further driver optimilizations.

yeah, but the sapphire has to share the memory between the two VPU's :s that could cost performance, but let's wait and see it will probably be the fastest thing around

(and i dont expect this to sell for $499)

Demo System running score a 5618 3dmark2003 score.

                          (Volari Duo V8 Ultra graphics card, P4 3.2G, 8KNXP Intel 875, 2 x 256M DDR400)

I think we can expect higher performance from the final boards with later drivers.

The Volari Duo does not use AFR (Ati) or SLI (3dfx/nVidia), the two chips are connected with a special bus and really work as one chip (8 pipelines), this means a higher performance increase than other dual cards had to the single chip versions I think.

I believe we can expect higher performance from the final boards with later drivers.
Thumps up XDI, we still need more than the boring ATI&nVidia thing on the market I think...

Oh man, just saw your sig.
                            Bandwith is life, Rambus forever!!
You need help, and some education.

The V8 chips have 8 pielines, the V8 duo therefore has 16 pipelines.
It should be able to blow most cards out of the water with that much brute force....

But, we will have to wait for retail for a full test....
P was supposed to be huge, and it turned out slightly different....we shall see.

                                @Wombat:

We already had a discussion about Rambus on murc, THAT'S OVER FOR NOW .

But, don't you know the slogan 'Framerate is Life'??
                                Just a 'conversion'.

And you're right, I need help!!!! HELP!!!
...but no education. I know that at the moment no p4-platform compares with the i875, but SiS R659 quad-channel pc1200 Rdram chipset will change this, if SiS releases it ever of course .
SiS, do you guys hear me?!? Please!

Further, not many guys are interested in this kind of 'micro-electronics', but the rambus technology is a interesting ram interface, in technical aspect.

And, not to forget, perhaps we see 2004 a new kind of RDram, RD XDR, theoratical bandwith up to 100 gigabyte/sec (it should be 'cheaper' too, now we will see ).

                                again:
No more discussion about RD versus DDR!

We can do this again with new ram types in the future...

                                Time will tell... WUHAHAAAA!!!
