On the technology page they say that future versions will allow a black background and/or a separate display on either side.

If you think about it, they need to be able to show black, so if they can show a fullly opaque black background, they can hide the display from the "back" side, and have the option of generating different displays on the two sides.

What gets me is the method they say they're using:
... the device modifies the properties of air within a localized environment. Air comes into the device, is ejected and illuminated using a proprietary technique in which the photons and air produce the image. ...
    Are force fields next?
    (wouldn't that be cool!)

      .
Nah, just heliodisplays with "force feedback" on the way to the holodeck.

just stumbled over the site. Looks they added some content.
There are videos of a turning car and a turning watch in the air, looks like StarWars

            Some quotes:
In the course of developing the technology, We have built Heliodisplays that displayed images ranging from 5" (12cm) to 42" (105cm). The device, and thus the projected image, can be oriented vertically or horizontally. Devices can be ganged together for one long (or high) continuous image. The technology can be customized (image size, image resolution; interactivity) for different applications.
We should send this to Matrox, sounds like a perfect complement for a (better) Parhelia
We believe the technology can be scaled up to at least 150" (380cm) images.

lol i second that. 350W isn't that much comparing to your oven and such. (but it IS a lot for a display )
