    Nothing surpricing really
Athlon 64 has loads of IPC compared to the P4

Got to play with an Athlon64 3200+ on an Asus/VIA board yesterday. it was quite supple. the cooler did a good job of keeping the processor cool and it was also incredably quiet too (there was a quiet PSU on it too). Did not seem to have any noticable problems from what I saw... pretty impressive setup...

All this hasn't convinced me. I'm sticking with Intel, and will NEVER buy AMD again unless they improve the garbage that is their chipsets.

We just got Athlon64 3200+ and MSI K8T Neo in at CompUSA today, overpriced as ever at $599 and $199 respectively....
Let us return to the moon, to stay!!!

Thank God for AMD, without them computer prices would still be ridiculousy high. Let's hope they survive for some time yet, even if just to stop intel from overcharging us

Yep, without AMD we would all be buying our shiny new Tualerons at 1.13GHz for around $1/MHz.

I'm sticking with Intel. They been in the biz since the beginning and it shows. I don't think AMD is any real competition for them except as a bargain alternative. And I'm not buying an unstable mess of a system just to save a few bucks. I tried AMD once, and will never again unless Intel falls flat on their faces. Not bloody likely.

This is why you buy Asus boards so you won't have any issues. It is worth the extra $$$

When I tried AMD (1800+), I tried 2 Asus boards, both top of the line, and I had nothing but crashes, spontaneous reboots, etc. HORRIBLE experience. Never again.

I tryed a 1700+ T-Bred and a Leadtek SIS 735 and liked it, no stability problems, they're now my brothers. I'll probably upgrade that to a Gigabyte SIS 748 and 2500+ Barton and build my dad a system with the previous config.

On the other hand, I cursed my days with Intel and i875 dual channel in the first months. Loved my 650MHz CuMine, 450 Katmai, 350 Deschutes and 266 Klamath, all on BX platforms.

I agree, but most of the time they are superior boards.
