    i think so... so i could make the router say 192.168.1.13 and the gateway could be say... 255.255.255.128

    Im having a problem right now... I have the router connected to the uplink and a computer and I cannot connect to its setup screen... i only get the primary router

    But if i unplug the uplink, i think the router locks, cause i still cannot connect to the setup... =\

      Unplug the uplink. Do a quick reset of the router. Access the setup screen. Give the router a static IP- probably any will do since it wont be connected anyway. Change the routers Ip to the number you came up with should be fine. Apply. Then you should be able to log back in with the new address. Reconnect the uplink and see if that doesnt solve your proble. The numbers you had a gateway look like the subnet. You can make the secondary router have all the same info as the primary to include wan IP, DNS, etc. Just make sure Its LAN side is different 192.168.1.13 is great.

        I cannot get to the setup screen...
        This is what i have tried.

        comp -> router port2
        Uplink -> switch -> pri Router -> cable modem
        with DHCP and with static IP

        comp -> router port2
        Wan - > switch -> pri Router -> cable modem
        with DHCP and with static IP

        comp -> router port2
        Uplink -> LAN at work
        with DHCP and with static IP

        comp -> router port2
        Wan - > LAN at work
        with DHCP and with static IP

        All of those and I still cant ping or connect to http://192.168.1.1
        Is there a way to do a master reset without getting into the setup ?

        edit: I forgot I also tried

        comp -> router port2
        with DHCP and with static IP

        comp -> uplink
        with DHCP and with static IP

        comp -> wan
        with DHCP and with static IP

          Hey, i thought of one random thing that probably won't work...what would happen if we plugged the WAN of router2 into the uplink of router2, just so it didn't lock and saw a connection?

          Also, will it harm anything if we change the internal IP of router1 temporarily, so that daemorok can try to access his router?

            Hard reset of router back to setup defaults is by pressing the little reset button for more than 10 - 15 seconds. At this point the router still shouldn't have a lockup issue without having anything connected on the WAN port. Temporairly set one of the daemorok machines with a static IP 192.168.1.100 with subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.1.1. DNS can be left blank at this point. He then should be able to see the login page. Remember the router will go back to the default password ADMIN.

            Go in and make the changes to the routers WAN and switch side addresses.

            Kooldino: I think if you want to connect the WAN port to the switch side (so the port "sees" an active connection) it should go to ports 2 - 4 NOT the uplink. The router normally connects it's WAN port to a standard port on the modem not a uplink(crossover) port.

            Once the routers changes have been made and applied insure that you can still access the login page using the new switch side address. If all is successful reset the computer for DCHP and plug the router uplink into the DLink.

            This can be done just need to keep working at it.
