  • Firebird 0.7

No, it's not the official release. But, there are some nightly builds which could very well end up being the final. (release candidates)

I read a little on the firebird forums, and they were all saying it was much faster than 0.6.1. I thought they were fudging it a little bit, but I tried it myself and it's damn speedy!

As a side note though, it seems to have some troubles working with my old plugins. (tab extensions, autoscroll, though autoscroll appears to work anyway )

edit: reinstalled extensions, working ok now.

excellent! looking for an alternative to IE 6 that is fast enough. I actual love mozilla, but i think its load time is just too long.

    Thanks for the tip BSDGeek!

OMG! I love this browser. My past experienecs of Mozilla is good, but slow.

Firebird is great. Overall its ok, but in terms of surfing experience the real moailla i think is better, dunno why. (this browser is a bit slower to load things?)

But hell, this browser loads very very fast, as fast as IE!

Well, guess what, I set this as my default browser

Blah, using 0.7+ here for some time , and optimized specifically for AthlonXP...

Chrono, for speed grab one of recent aebrahim builds for...depends on which cpu you'll use it , from here.
(and a nice "blog" which lists builds and changes.

Az, I knew you'd make that post when I saw the topic

I tried the latest Firebird but nothing can sway me from Opera.

oh c'mon az, signature isn't enought and you have to jump on the preaching bandwagon everytime we talk about Firebird? (yeah, I know, rhetoric question...otoh, when was the last time when we jumped with firebird in your Opera threads? )

Using Firebird since quite some time now. Better Tabbed browsing than any other browser (including opera) AND IT'S FREE.

OK, I promise I'll stop polluting Firebird threads if you stop saying its tabbed browsing is better than Opera's

(Still, I'm curious - how is it better? I didn't like it as much, don't know why)

Is there an easy way to upgrade vom 0.6 to 0.7? Replacing the .exe from 0.5 -> 0.6 didnt work.

Just extract it and run, it should pick up and use the old profiles.
