Ummm why are you all testing with a server that's in Maine?! You are suppose to test via a server that is nearest you. (yeah yeah yeah I know it's only 10 min from Dilpickle but he's got a redheaded monkey on his back

      try one of these...

        From DSLReports
        2003-11-10 11:52:09 EST: 1180 / 152
Your download speed : 1180905 bps, or 1180 kbps.
        A 144.1 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 152566 bps, or 152 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
        w00t!
Looks like they finaly fixed my upload speed.
It's supposed to be 384/128 service but I have always gotten 1100-1200 down and
        92 up.
        How about that?

The phone install guy told me that the central office we were connected to did not even have the needed equipment for DSL and he had heard that Rogers had paid the builder ( greenpark) a hefty sum to make sure DSL would not be available.. yay

              SDSL at work?
Only 384kbs/384kbps at my work though I am going to get the boss to upgrade as now he wants to host Loan Packages and such and our website does not allow this option. We can simply put a link in an email to a FTP server and off the main website. That way we'll have good control over it with access permissions and all.

My only broadband options here are Covad SDSL and TWC RR. Yay. Lots of choices.

                Covad SDSL connection: 645/647
Verizon ADSL connection at work: 1528/134

We had Comcast at our last location and would still have it if they did not want to charge us 5,000+ dollars to install it and it would have taken two to three months. They would have had bore under the pavement. 3mbit down and the same up speed (384kbit) we have now for only ~$83/month compared to the ~$160 for 384kbit up and down.

                    Just did a test:

                    2040 down
                    425 up.

                      3148 kilobits/sec down
                      250 kilobits/sec up

If I download off a local cable company server the transfer rate peaks around 10 megabits/sec, with short gaps where the throttling cuts the average down to 3 mb/s.

Dilante, your sig was freaking me out before. My workgroup name is Spoon and behind a firewall. Your quote was "There is no spoon." With the other info it was giving, this was disturbing.

I guess I can live with that.

Do you live in the richmond hill area? (I asked because lots of greenpark houses up there). (I live in Thornhill)

Man, that gotta suck. But then I am also trying to get Rogers because they a quite a bit cheaper (Sympatico comes down to 50 dollars/month!)

I live in Woodbridge ( Rutherford and Weston) .. I just found out that rogers just bumped the speed to 3Mbit
One thing with rogers is that they charge $10 / month on top of the $45.99 if you are not a cable subscriber, which I am not ...
