Hi Guys,
I built a new rig for a friend and experience strange dropouts when using its digital audio output.
The mobo is K7N2-IL from MSI
I couldn't find it on their international pages, but I guess this link is a pretty close match to the actual board
My friend still has one of those olden external Soundblaster 5.1 amplifiers which is connected via S/PDIF.
Now all internal 5.1 test run ok, ie. all speakers get their proper signal, using NForce's control panel, but as soon as something else is going on, eg. running a demo or a game, the control lamp of the amplifier's input blinks on and off as well as the sound pops on and off.
I am really stumped on this, since using the mainboards analog audio outlets for feeding the amp with an analog 4 speaker signal, no such dropouts are to be heard.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other digital amplifier at hand, so that I cannot verify if it's the amp or the chipset causing this trouble and therefore I wanted to check with you guys if anybody experienced the same and/or if there's a way to solve this problem.
For the record, I have all latest drivers, patches, BIOS updates and whatnot, except maybe for the very recent NForce drivers (I'll have to double check that driver revision).
CPU is a Barton 2500+, gfx card is a Sapphire 9600 non-pro 256MB DDR, HD's are connected to internal IDE and so are NEC DVD-+RW 1300A plus NEC CDROM.
TIA for any valuable feedback and input !
