  • poll: would you buy ATI if the yoffered triple head?

self explanatory, if ATI offered a triple head card with surround gaming would you buy it ahead of a dual head variant or whatever you are using at the moment(ie parhelia/previous matrox)?

More then likely if I thought they had done it correctly, thi would only be for surround gaming though.

For normal triple head (non gaming) I will/would go *Fast ATi Card*/Matrox G4xx.

I doubt it....I had triplehead with my Parhelia and its pretty much a expesive gimmic for gaming only. Not to say there aren't other uses for it. It was pretty much over kill for me.

I find that having a 20in LCD running at 16x12 is pently of real estate for me to do any computer work on, though I do run dual head in work on 17 inch Monitors at 1024x768.

I'd buy ATI anyway but triple head is worthless for me as I don't have room for three monitors anyway.

TH is a very desirable feature for video editing, multimedia/cad etc. but I'd want to see that ATI in action and its full feature list & limitations before dropping coin on it.

As it is my Parhelia & P-750's are doing this job just fine and gaming speed isn't even on the back burner.

no, because I don't need it.

But of course that's a different case if LCDs go dead cheap (~100 Canadian each)

I think Dual Head is more than enough, at least for me anyways.

For what I've been doing lately, I usually end up with just using two monitors for displaying things and the other monitor mostly sits there until I watch a movie (which pops up full screen on that one) or I'm playing a game in Surround gaming. But it's nice to have that third monitor sitting there for when I feel I have too many overlapping windows

I really miss my third monitor. When I got gifted with broadband I have IRC and at least three ICQ windows up. Running on just two monitors gets a bit cluttered.

                    I would, if:

There were no competitive Matrox or nVidia option and if the drivers would have been top notch and if the TH was at least on par with current Parhelia.

Maybe if they got their multi-monitor features to be competitive.

Only if Matrox doesn't make a follow-on to the Parhelia...

I would miss Matrox's 2D too damn much...

It would be nice to see it happen, since more software houses would program their games for it, but I already have a Parhelia.. if Matrox would come out with a refined P, I would prefer that over an ATI, but with M dropping the ball (like a hot potato) I suppose I will have to look elsewhere for my next card. The thing about triple head is, it is hard for many people to afford the monitors and the space to use them all.. don't see it becoming mainstream too quickly.

i agree with what you say KV and would always prefer another matrox card, cant see it happening any time soon though. The cost issue is also a major drawback though prices for screens are coming down now, i think triple screen will always remain with the enthusiast but the highest end cards are sold only to enthusiasts too and they seem to justify there existance through sales. I dont think ill be able to go back when my parhelia has reached the end of its life if there is no replacement for it. I'd like to see one of the big players take on the idea.
