        If it had the same type of Triple Head functionality as my non-supported piece of shit Parhelia does, I'd buy it in an instant. Heck, anything would be an improvment over the card I'm stuck with a.t.m.

            No ATi ever again for me! then I rather buy a nVidia card, I HATE ATi drivers! Many complain about VIA and Creative, I never had any problems with them, but ATi... no comments!

                @[GDI]Raptor: You're damned right, but I complained about Via too, until I decided to buy their products no more.

                @The PIT: I had a RF Maxx, nice card but worst support ever (2 driver releases, both terrible, no 2000 or xp driver ever) and that for a 600 DM card!!!
                Further two of my friends use R8500 on i850 boards and one a Radeon 64 DDR Vivo on a Via board, stability and compatibility is very bad since they had bought them (for example, its always goes like this: new driver release, problems with generals solved, new problems with avp2 occur, and so on).

                fanATIc = terrible drivers
                nVidiot = benchmark cheaters
                XGI = now, we will see

                I will buy any sucessor of the P immediately.
                P IV 3,06 Ghz, GA-8ihxp i850e, 512 MB PC-1066 RDRam, Parhelia 128 mb 8x, 40 + 60 gb IBM 7200 upm/2048 kb HD, Samtron 96 P 19", black icemat, Razer Boomslang 2100 krz-2 + mousebungee, Videologic sonic fury, Creative Soundworks

                  I was a long time Matrox user. I started with Matrox with the original PCI Mystique through G200 Mystique, G400Max and Parhelia 512.

                  In Nov '02 I switched to an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, and have used it with a ViewSonic P817 21" CRT (primary) and ViewSonic P225f 22" CRT (secondary).

                  I recently switched to a Radeon 9800 XT 256MB card and changed my primary monitor to a Samsung SyncMaster 213T 21.3" TFT/DVI as primary.
                  Desktops have always been at 1600x1200 32bit 85Hz where possible. The TFT is 1600x1200 60Hz digital.

                  Though I had been spoiled by Matrox 2D, I felt the Radeons to be a very close second. nVidia I've seen on other rigs and to my eyes would be a distant third for 2D.
                  Just like with Matrox, I've always updated my Radeons to the latest drivers, DirectX version and have never once had a problem.
                  I don't over-clock, use Intel chipsets only and follow the mfr's install and driver/software update instructions exactly.
                  Triple head properly implemented by ATI would be nice for me if it
                  were on the TV out. On the right of my two monitors is a 36" Sony, further away with an apparent size of ~17".
                  I didn't need something extra like triple-head to get me to buy ATI.
                  If Matrox offered a card that was as good as ATI in 3D, the slightly better 2D and better multi-head implementation would bring me back.
                  In their own ways, ATI and Matrox both produce excellent products. I can happily buy from either one depending on what features I need.

                    One thing I do like about the Parhelia is the interface they have for the drivers. It's not over-cluttered and filled with a billion options that just confuse most people. (for instance, Byock can tell first hand about trying to get his AIW 9800 to work with his HD-TV....) I just wish Matrox would release a newer/faster Parhelia. Some of the newer games coming out are running quite slow, and god forbid you try to run anything newer with triple-head! (X2: The Threat and Deus Ex 2 come to mind...)
