Going down to Tottenham Court Road to buy a case and a hard drive, ordered the rest of parts off dabs, should get here tomorrow morning. My question is who has any idea of which shops are likely to have a wide selection of cases and other components. I am definitely going to PC World, and possibly microanvika. It can't wait until Saturday, the client needs the system by Friday, otherwise I'd have got the stuf at the computer fair.Maplin is also a possibility, they sometimes have one off stuff available.

Go to the yellow "Antech Direct" just off TCR on Store Street (round the corner from maplins). Invariably the best, most helpful and often cheapest place. The often have a bloke with a sign pointing to it from TCR.DM says: Crunch with Matrox Users@ClimatePrediction.net

Good stuff. Last time I was in there they had quite a few cases as well. Also stock the Zalman stuff and generally are pretty knowledgable (unlike some places on TCR)DM says: Crunch with Matrox Users@ClimatePrediction.net

hmmm...a friend of mine just bought a couple of 256MB DDR333 no-names in a computer fair 3-4 days ago. He got them for a very good price. Too bad one of them didn't work...now he can't return it (unless he's luucky enough to find the person he bought it from).
still a lot like buying a cat in a bag, unless the person you buy it from is a regular...

The computer fair is on Saturday, I need to deliver this tomorrow (as mentioned earlier). Just collected the money from the guys, on way to Antech Direct to get rest of stuff, only need hard drive and case. And yes, I normally go the fair to get stuff, if not online. Online still rules with regard to price IMO[size=1]D3/\/7YCR4CK3R

Got the stuff, was just a case, floppy, and HD. Nice 350 W PSU with 35A on the 5V, 28A on the 3.3 (or vice versa), quiet as well. Maxtor 80 GB 2MB cache which is almost as fast as mine (average speed is .5 MB/sec faster, but bursts 5MB or so slower on my machine). It bursts at 95 on my machine (SiS chipset) but only 87 on the KM400 mobo it is being used on, although that system has a GB of RAM. Absolutely no problems so far. I had ordered the other bits off dabs but I had maxed out the CC as I hadn't got paid for the job yet.[size=1]D3/\/7YCR4CK3R
