  • Suspend to RAM (S3) resetting CPU speed!

Since I stopped running any distributed computing programs I figured I'd set the system to just standby instead to save power. Unfortunatly I just discovered that my CPU gets bumped back down to stock speed after it restores from standby! It's a TUSL2-C, i815EP chipset. Not sure if it's a HW or WinXP issue, I guess I'll just stick with hibernate (S4), it's more "reliable" anyway.

    Sounds like a bios bug...

Looked it up some more and it seems it's not too uncommon a problem. I just disabled Suspend to RAM in the BIOS so the OS should just use S2 for "Standby" mode.

Slightly on this topic: I can't get my system to hibernate: It only offers standby (which keeps the PSU running).

I have checked the box in the "power option" | "hibernate" -> "enable hibernate", but it hasn't appeared in my startmenu/shutdown menu.
Mainboard is fully ACPI compatible (Supermicro X5DA8), running Windows XP Servicepack 1.

        Any ideas ?

Hold the shift key down while the shutdown window is open, stand by turns into hibernate.
