The XT really cannot be worth the extra cash - AFAIK it's a marginal difference anyhow. No extra features so you might even get the Pro to similar speeds as the Pro with care. And you don't really need 256Mb of Video mem do you?

Ah wait for the next card should be bump in performance.

9800 pro is the one to go for unless you're running at high res with all grubbings on max.

Less than 10% more speed for over 200€ more. I don't think so, go 9800Pro.

I would have gone for the Radeon 9800 Pro All-In-Wonder (actually I did ), as it was only a few bucks more than the non-AIW card.

The XT has a couple new features. It self-overclocks and underclocks and has an onboard thermal sensor. Also some of the guts were reworked to make it more compatible with the VPU recover feature of the newer Catalysts.

HOWEVER - even being the ATI proponent that I am - it's not worth 200 pounds more. That's the "new and scarce" tax. Don't pay it!

                I would still get screwed

Its funny that when I bought my ATI card the XT variant was cheaper

But that was because the non XT had a Zalman heatpipe

                      Simple logics:

                      Fact: XT costs 50% more.
Question: Does XT provides 50% more performance ?
                      Answer: Not even 20% more

Conclusion: XT doesn't worth 50% more.

                        Just remember: Benchmarks are Evil.
To feel a difference in performance, you need at least 25 - 30 percent more.
For example: Moving from 30 to 45 fps is 15 fps more which means 50% better performance.
On the other hand, moving from 100 to 115 fps means shit because those same 15 fps are now almost meaningless 15% better performance.

Benchmarks make you shell out more cash for less performance.

I have a 9800XT. I could easily afford it, but yeah, it's probably not worth the extra money over the Pro.

Wow, that is more than I paid for the 9800Pro AIW. I paid $410 for that.
