Maybe someone here has some ideas. We're at a lost to figure this out. While running Aquamark3 with my ATI 9800XT, I noticed the memory indicated on the card was 128 MB. Others are observing it in other benchmarks using D3D too. DXDiag lists the card's mem. as 256 MB, but I believe it just reads this value from the drivers. I'm using DX9.0b. I thought that perhaps there was something funky with the benchmark, but almost all the 9800XTs in the online database were indicated as having 256 MB. A handful of others listed 128 MB. It doesn't appear to be directly driver related; I'm observing the same thing with Cat 3.8, 3.9, and 3.10. Others using the same drivers are listed as 256 MB. My card was installed on a complete clean install of XP pro. Another person in the same situation contacted ATI. They recommended exchanging the card. He did, and the new card still shows 128 MB.
Could this be MB/chipset related? I'm using an Asus P4T-533C (850E chipset). The other person I've been in contact with is using an 845-based board. I don't have a newer board to check it out on. Any other ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
John
