  • Roxio easy CD Ver 6

    Does this support the Lite-on LDW811S ???

Lite-on is listed as a supported on the web site at all and the latest update for version 5 doesn't support it either.

At the moment I'm using a demo version of Nero 6 which is alright but I still don't like the programme.

Well, they're releasing updates for it all the time...

But Nero will be updated as soon as EZCD will, so it's a crapshoot.

Suuposedly, ECDC 6 was going to allow you to select alternate driver sets (i.e. generic MMC) for drives that weren't yet supported. Whether it ever actually made it into production I don't know, but it might be worth looking for.

You PREFER how Roxio does things?

You mean "we went three versions of our software causing spontaneous machine reboots and wrecking discs when on an identical machine with an identical configuration it works fine"?

          THAT method of doing things?

I hear good things about EZ-CD/DVD 6, too. But I'm not brave/stupid enough to try their software after what it did to my machine. Kinda like McAfee... it'll be YEARS before I install that shit on my box again.

P.S. But then again, why are you even bothering trying to use either of these programs? As Greebe will happily tell you, Linux is vastly superior and I'm a moron.

Yup the three versions have never trashed my machines over the years. Yes I've seen problems caused on other machines mainly win2k.

            Linux no thanks

Yeah, it WAS mainly Win2k, wasn't it?

Hrm... weird that MS's MOST STABLE OS TO DATE is the one that EZ CD "targets". ROFL.

Wasn't it the Go Back software that Roxio included. This stopped the machine booting if you had a zip drive installed. Solution insert a zip disk and you could boot then apply the patch. Thats if I remember correctly.

Nah. It was a mega-glitch in the guts of their burning engine that caused the machine to shit bricks if you tried to actually *gasp* burn two discs IN A ROW.

Roxio 5 really screwed my machine a couple of years back, and I'm very reluctant to try it again.

It got fixed as soon as it could be reproduced

And yes; it was ECDC -not Go Back (which was instrumental in helping to get the fix done!)

Yeah but "as soon as it could be reproduced" was the entire product cycle of 4.x and 5.0!

                        That's insane!

hm...didn't you have a long post on how XP was THE fastest and most stable os from MS a while ago?
