• Anybody know a website where I can 'compare' mp3 players?

I'm looking to buy an MP3 player, but I'm getting sick of looking around online stores. Does anybody know a website that will allow me to search a "database" based on my requirements?

Or does anybody know a good player that has:
- 128/256 MB memory (preferrably 256)
- Small display (3 lines or so should be fine)
- And most importantly.... NO FM radio!!
(yes I said no radio..... I need this for long flights and apparently airlines frown on radios )
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

Radio would be fine. You're not using it, so you're good. After all, my friends can use their Treo PDA/cell phones.

mp3.com used to have decent reviews, they might still. Their forums were good especially for finding the "Rio 6382 vs. Foobar X323" debates.

Do you have a type of memory in mind? Built-in only? Expandable? If so, SD/CF what?

Well I was going for something with built in memory only, but that's really only to get as small a player as possible.

But I guess players are getting so small anyway that even the SD/CF type aren't much bigger than the memory itself, so I don't really have any preferences.

(I haven't got one though... But they look nice and small. I believe there are people here that have such a player (az ?))

I have a Frontier Nex IIe, and while it's basically nice, it has some quirks that I don't like. If you want, I'll give a more detailed report later.

On www.dansdata.com are reviews of various cheap, small mp3 players (no brand names) which dan finds quite nice.

I had (it was stolen) a Nex IIe. It was nice, but I bought it because I already had some CF laying around. These days, there are better, smaller players for less money. See what iRiver has to offer these days.
