I remember him becomming a w98 fanatic when it was fresh out of redmonds door and we thought "why the hell pay extra when we can download IE for free?"
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Originally posted by leech Speaking of which TnT, I wonder how many people, now that Win9x support is getting dropped, will actually switch to Linux? I don't think that many, since anyone who actually USES the support, wouldn't install linux in the first place. Unless of course it's like "Grandma, that computer is no longer supported by Microsoft, so I'm going to install linux on your computer, I'll just do support for it."

I agree not many most will just continue until some other software forces them to upgrade or they get a newer pc from a friend.
Chief Lemon Buyer no more Linux sucks but not as much
Weather nut and sad git.
I think that most home users that still have 98 will continue to use Win98 until they get a new computer.
MS might be keeping 98 alive a bit longer so that business' won't switch to Linux. If MS forces a business to upgrade their OS from Win98, currently the options are WinXP or maybe move over to Linux. If MS can hold out until Longhorn is near release (or after) than people will be considering that instead of XP.

I'd rather be forced to use WinME than 98.
Are you sure?
I'd rather use DOS 3.3 than ME.
I actualy threw away my ME cd because I couldn't think of anyone I would be willing to inflict it on.
I still have the 3.3 disketts.

After working for years with Win95 and Win98, the sooner it dies, the happier I will be. Win98 simply doesn't have the availibility or the performance that I need.
Yes, you are crazy, but no, I will not condemn you ... there is no rule that says everyone must like the same things

It was utter shit. Complete, utter, and total shit.

No. ME was utterly pointless shit. It fixed nothing. Took away some capabilites for no reason which were hacked back in anyways. I still have my full copy of 98SE from when I built my first machine. Short of using a game that I knew was dangerous. I could leave it running for weeks without a reboot. A former coworker is going to give me her old machine and that's where it is going. I also had ME and gave that away to go on my bosses/cousin's mother-in-law's machine. She didn't care about what I did not like about ME.
2K now that's a decent O.S. XP would be too if not for the product activation crap. THey got rid of so much of the old crap with XP that their new crap wasn't enough to slow it down.
