Jammrock is "affiliated" with Utah, although he'll claim otherwise.

      Okay, this looks pretty nice.

Wow, that IS fast. Although, is it me, or should the seek time be a tad faster?

That's about it with HD Tach for 7200 rpm, 8-9 ms drives.
If you will, my 10k rpm, 5ms Raptor gives 8.5-9 ms results.

Not bad at all! I got the 160gb drive for $59 at Compusa, was too tempting to pass up

I bought a 200GB Maxtor 8MB cache drive for 150 euro, quite a good deal for that drive over here

The Seagate deal is back. Also, there's a 160GB SATA for $100.

Ordered one immediately this time. Last time I waited too long and it was out of stock. Thanks for the timely heads up again, Rob. You just saved me a bunch!

I think WD drives may start with seeks a bit slower then norm. Sort of like a careful workin/check mode.

I seem to recall that my WD drives seeks were faster after a few months use.

Of course, my sig probably explains the real situation

                      Sigh,

Big hard drives are expensive here

                      160 gig for $219 AU
                      200 gig for $259 AU

At the moment, I make do with a 60gig and an 80gig.

That's not expensive, really. That's about the same as our non-sale prices, about US$1/GB

There is only one way to be affiliated with Utah.

I lived there for 5 years when I was a youngster. I have sworn that I will never return there unless there is not other place on planet earth I can get a job.

So you would prefer Sierra Leone or someplace similar, where the water is full of parasites, half the population is shooting at the other half, and there is AIDS and malaria to worry about too?
