Well they're a lot better than the 3.10's. UT2k3 is back to it's earlier performance. The image quality seems better as well.

Yes, early feedback on these definitely is more good than bad. Too short time period to really draw a conclusion, though...

I seem to remember that there was an at least "semi-official" statement of one ATI employee stating this somewhere (Rage3D?).
Would definitely make sense, only that I'm very sure that I had the Cat3.0 already installed shortly before XMas 2002...
But we named the *dog* Indiana...

I am sure it is 4 is from 2004, and the second number is just the release number for the year.

I think cat 3.0 mihght have just been shuffled out a little early has an Xmas present..

4.1 seems good to me, but appraently they will cause slowdowns in wolfenstein ET, when AA is turned on ?. Not that I use it.

The naming of the drivers is as follows.

            Take 3.10 for example.

            The three is for 2003

The .10 is for the tenth release for that year

Rage3D reckons that the dodgy 3.0 was to do with the first support of DX9.0 in the drivers, the above naming convention applied from then on.

I had major problems with 3.9 and 3.10 in the form of my monitor just switching off and yesterday the 3DSMax process had an error on shutting down, like it used to with earlier cat drivers, this might have just been a one-of though.
