    Are there any wireless phones, cameras or baby monitors within 100 feet (could be more)? I had the same problem, it was caused by a 2.4 ghz phone.

      @GuchiGuh: for about 2 weeks I'm now a mac user (before just linux and win), so I'm still impressed by their beauty! Furthermore I love the unix power beneath...

      Setting up a wireless network with wpa-encryption on the standard channel with non-standard name was no problem.

        I do have a 2.4 GHz phone, but it would strike me wierd that it only affects that 1 computer, and not the 2 laptops. It could be though. I'll try pulling the power on the phones and see if that helps.
