  • How to change Notepad's colors....

I'm running Windows XP Professional with all the current updates through Windows Update. But for whatever reason, Notepad has decided to put white text on white background. I know the text is there, because I can click anywhere in the text field, and whenever I type, I get nothing displayed. Not sure if this could be something to do with the Matrox drivers or not, I'm running those dx9 beta drivers....

I can't help you with your notepad problem, but I can recommend [url=www.textpad.com]TextPad, a very powerful and configurable text editor (including syntax highlighting for HTML, C.... you name it )

Well, it's not like I use Notepad for anything really. Only for reading text files. Easier in windows to just right click on a file and do open with, but I probably could do the same with any text editor... Just need something small that will replace notepad. I'm guessing the colors are in the registry....

It uses the default window color. To change Notepad, you will have to change the default for all applications.

(on Win2K, Display settings->Appearance, click "window text" or select Window from the Item list, change the color)

Fixed it, I had to change the font for it... how very odd. Does Notepad not support truetype fonts?

Textpad yeah, it is great I have been using it for years, we have the fully licensed version here at work, but the free one is just as good with one small nag screen on startup.

have not used notpad in a long whjile
